I ran the
Falmouth Road Race this weekend. I sent in one of my old race results with my registration, and they gave me a low enough number to start with the first 500 men and 250 women. I could have been that guy in the commercials who lines up at the start of the marathon and offers the elite dudes some fast food. It was pretty cool to see all the world-class athletes hanging around before the start.
I was next to Chris Smith at the start, and I saw him for about the first half mile and that was it. I was hoping to finish in 46-47 minutes, which is about 6:40 minutes for the 7 miles. At the first mile, my time was 6:04. The other runners must have gotten me pumped up a bit. The course was crowded with spectators. It was hot out and lots of people had their hoses out spaying us as we ran by. I calmed my pace down a bit and finished in 217th place with a time of 45:41.
